How to get to Kokura, Kitakyushu, Japan

Information for entrance visa to Japan

The 21st International Conference will be held at the Kitakyushu International Conference Center, located near the train station of Kokura, Kitakyushu. The conference venue and the conference hotels are located in a walking distance from the Kokura station. In this page, the information on how to reach the Kokura station is shown. The detailed information on the access to the conference venue and/or the conference hotels from the Kokura station is found in the Accommodation page.

1) Arriving at Narita airport
2) Arriving at Haneda airport
3) Arriving at Kansai airport
4) Arriving at Fukuoka airport
5) Arriving at Kitakyushu airport

1) If you arrive at Narita international airport (NRT):

There are a few routes to reach Kokura from Narita.

- Transfer to the domestic flight from Narita to Fukuoka (and see 4-2) below)
- Transfer to the domestic flight from Haneda to Fukuoka (and see 4-2))
- Transfer to the domestic flight from Haneda to Kitakyushu (and see 5))

Transportation from Narita to Haneda can be either limousine bus, regional train, or taxi (highly expensive). Please see the Narita airport's web page (http://www.narita-airport.jp/en/access/haneda/index.html) for more detail.
Or,
- Transfer to the bullet train (Shinkansen) at the Tokyo station and travel to Kokura (this would take about five hours) Transportation from Narita to Tokyo station can be by train or limousine bus (see the above Narita airport's web page)

2) If you arrive at Tokyo (Haneda) international airport (HND):

There are a few routes to reach Kokura from Haneda

- Transfer to the domestic flight from Haneda to Fukuoka (and see 4-2) below)
- Transfer to the domestic flight from Haneda to Kitakyushu (and see 5))
Or,
- Transfer to the bullet train (Shinkansen) at the Tokyo station and travel to Kokura (this would take about five hours)

Transportation from Haneda to Tokyo station is via monorail and local train (this would take about 30 to 40 minutes). See the Haneda airport's web page for more detail (http://www.haneda-airport.jp/inter/en/access/).

3) If you arrive at Kansai international airport (KIX)

- Transfer to the bullet train at the Shin-Osaka station to Kokura (this would take about two and half hours)

4) If you arrive at Fukuoka international airport (FUK)

There are a few routes to travel from Fukuoka airport to Kokura

4-1) If you travel from your country directly to the Fukuoka airport, you will arrive at the international terminal of the Fukuoka airport.
- use the non-stop bus from the international terminal to the Hakata station (then see 4-3) below). The time schedule of this bus is:

Or,
- If this non-stop bus is not convenient for you, use the free bus between international terminal and domestic terminal; then, transfer to subway for reaching the Hakata station (two stations away) (then see 4-3) below).

4-2) If you plan to transfer to a domestic flight from either Narita or Haneda, the domestic flight will arrive at the domestic terminal of the Fukuoka airport.
- Take a highway bus going to Kokura. See the location of bus stops at the following web page:

Or,
- Take subway at the domestic terminal and go to the Hakata station (two stations away) (then see 4-3) below).

4-3) From Hakata station to Kokura station
- Take a bullet train going to eastbound (or NOBORI in Japanese) and the Kokura is the next station to Hakata (around 20 minutes)

5) If you arrive at Kitakyushu airport (KKJ)

- Take shuttle bus (Kokura Station Non-stop line) to Kokura station (about 30 minutes)
