Langkawi is also a duty-free island which means you do not have to pay customs duty or sales tax on items such as chocolate, cigarettes/cigars, perfumes and liquor. Although it is duty-free, the regulation of these purchases is limited up to 5 bottles of liquor, 3 cases of beer and 3 cartons of cigarettes purchased at duty-free stores in Langkawi. A Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Langkawi flight landing in Langkawi International Airport only takes an hour with frequent daily trips available.
