Post-conference Travel Suggestion

Vineyards

Chilean vineyards enjoy global recognition for their exceptional wine quality. Conference attendees have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the wine production process, explore diverse grape varieties, and indulge in tasting exquisite wines. We highly recommend a visit to the Casablanca Valley vineyards, with a special mention of the renowned Concha y Toro Vineyard. A half-day tour at Concha y Toro Vineyard, lasting 4-5 hours, offers a chance to stroll through the beautiful 19th-century gardens and see over 25 different grape varieties. Visitors will get to taste three wines and learn about the vineyard's craftsmanship. The cost of this half-day tour typically ranges around $60, depending on the options chosen. Convenient pickup and drop-off services are usually provided at various locations in Santiago.

Coastal City of Valparaiso

Embark on a cultural adventure in Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its architecture. The 90-minute journey from Valparaíso to Santiago offers a day of breathtaking scenery. A typical full-day tour (approximately 10 hours) usually includes a visit to Vina del Mar, known as the Garden City for its abundant greenery with a unique opportunity to stop at a vineyard for wine tasting, blending cultural exploration with scenic journeys. The tour typically costs around $100, with an option available for a lower cost (around $70) that excludes wine tasting. Convenient hotel pickup and drop-off services are usually provided.

Inca Lagoon

Experience the beauty of Inca Lagoon, a stunning natural wonder nestled in Portillo, Chile. On a typical full-day tour (approximately 10 hrs.), the journey begins with a visit to San Esteban Vineyard in Aconcagua Valley, where visitors can savor exquisite wines. Then, the adventure continues to the Inca Lagoon in Portillo, and be amazed at its breathtaking scenery. The tour typically costs around $120, including wine tasting. Convenient hotel pickup and drop-off services are usually provided.

Atacama Desert

The Atacama Desert in northern Chile is a must-visit destination, offering incredible landscapes including salt flats, lagoons, geysers, and unique rock formations. Many visitors choose to travel to San Pedro de Atacama to fully explore the breathtaking sites the desert has to offer. The nearest airport is Calama, which is a 2-hour direct flight from Santiago. Flights to Calama are available throughout the week and weekend due to its popularity. From Calama, there is a 1 hour and 30 minutes ground transportation to San Pedro de Atacama. In this charming little town, you can find a variety of tour providers, accommodations, and restaurants to choose from. Popular attractions include the famous Moon Valley, the beautiful El Tatio Geyser, Piedras Rojas (Red Rocks), and Salar de Talar (Salt Flats). Since these attractions require multiple days of travel, we highly recommend planning your trip in advance.

Elqui Valley

Discover the enchanting Valley Elqui, one of Chile's most renowned wine-producing regions, celebrated for its exceptional Syrah and Carmenere wines. While in the area, explore the charming town of Vicuña, the birthplace of Nobel Prize-winning poet Gabriela Mistral, and delight in the flavors of the local cuisine at restaurants. Visitors can also experience thrilling outdoor activities such as hiking, horseback riding, biking, and jeep tours. As night falls, be enchanted by the awe-inspiring starry skies of the Elqui Valley, the world's first International Dark Skies Sanctuary. To reach Valley Elqui, visitors can fly to La Serena, the nearest city with an airport (approximately 1 hour flight), followed by a scenic 2-hour ground transportation journey. If traveling from Santiago, the direct distance is around 7 hours by car. Due to the diverse attractions and multi-day exploration opportunities, it is advisable to plan your trip in advance.

Nevado Valley and Farellones Ski-Center

Indulge in an exciting day trip from Santiago to experience the winter sports hub of Chile and be awestruck by the magnificent vistas of Nevado Valley and Farellones, nestled in the breathtaking Andes Mountains. The approximate cost for transportation is around $30-50 (excluding ski rental and park fees), which may vary based on the tour schedule and group size. Typically, you will be picked up from your hotel at 8 AM and reach the charming mountain town of Farellones within a 2-hour drive. Here, you can partake in snow activities (subject to availability) or continue to Nevado Valley, the premier ski center in South America. Make sure not to miss the opportunity to enjoy the panoramic city views from the observation deck. As these destinations are weather-dependent, we strongly advise planning your trip in advance by contacting a reputable tour agency.
